What to wear?
It's all about feeling good and loving your look... dress like yourself, but use this as a great excuse to treat yourself to a new outfit, pair of shoes, item of makeup, or hairdo... whatever makes you feel amazing.
To help each person's individuality shine, try to coordinate outfits rather than all wearing the exact same outfit.

How to get the best out of your kiddos?
As every parent knows, life with kids is unpredictable. Meltdowns happen. Poop happens. Teenagers (and partners... AND moms) get grumpy. The best tactic? Roll with it! It's life... and I'll be snapping away and getting awesome photos that you'll love forever, no matter what life brings us.
Pro tip: Bring non-messy snacks or candy to bribe young kids with if needed! Gummies work great!
But most importantly... just relax! Have fun with it, and do what you do best... LOVE your family, for all of their ups and downs. If you stay relaxed and laugh it all off, that sets the tone for the session to be fun, and for our images to be amazing, no matter what happens.
Other helpful tips:
- Plan to arrive early. Getting the whole family out the door on time, even when they're NOT all dressed up, can be stressful. Make your life easier by planning to leave extra early so that you can arrive relaxed and ready to have fun! The more relaxed YOU are, the more fun EVERYONE will have!
- Can I wear glasses? Yes! Though try to avoid wearing transitional lenses* if possible. Depending on the light, they can look like sunglasses in the shot.
- *TIP: Zenni Optical has frames starting at $6.95. Consider ordering a pair to simulate your normal look, while also allowing us to see your eyes in your photos. (Additional tip: non-glare lenses look GREAT in photos.)
- Are your eyes sensitive to the light? Resist the temptation to wear sunglasses en-route to the shoot to let your eyes adjust to the light.
- Check yourself out in a mirror right before our shoot to make sure you're loving all aspects of your look.
- If you're getting a haircut, plan to do it at least a week before your session.
Can I bring my pet or extended family members?
Sure! Your session fee already includes your immediate family members. Additional people/pets can be added on for $25 each. Just let Midori know if you'd like to add people.
- Pet Tip: What gets your pet's attention? A squeaky toy? A favorite treat? A certain word? Plan to bring any attention-grabbing supplies and fill Midori in on the tip! Also be sure to bring a leash or tether to keep your pet safe during any shots that he/she is not in.
After the Session
- Look for a sneak preview on my Facebook and Instagram pages @midorijoyphotography! If you'd rather not have your images posted, just let me know!
- It takes me 3 weeks from our session date to perfect your images and compile them into a beautiful, secure online gallery; I'll email it to you once it's done.
When and How do I Pay?
Your balance is due two weeks before our session. I'll send an invoice that can be paid online.
Did I miss anything?
Any further questions? Please don't hesitate to ask!
Looking forward to our session!
